About Us

The FoWS was set up many years ago, by parents, with the primary aim to raise funds for the school to benefit all children. The FoWS has since become a registered charity.

The FoWS help organise many events throughout the year, including the Welcome BBQ, our traditional May Fair, Christmas Raffle and Christmas Lunch, Easter egg hunt and many others. We also provide additional resources to the school to help further an already outstanding learning environment.

Why we're raising money

Under the current circumstances, Friends of Whaddon School has not been able to organise fundraising in the usual way which has resulted in our families, villagers and friends missing out on well-loved events such as the annual May Fayre and has also significantly decreased the money available which is so vital for the school.

FOWS and the school have decided to work together to raise money through fundraising challenges so they can secure the remainder of the money required to fund the new classroom expansion for the school moving to full primary status up to Year 6.  90% of the funding has been achieved so we are working hard to obtain the final 10%.

Kicking off the efforts is ‘Walk for Whaddon’ where we’re aiming for the children to collectively complete a distance of 136 miles which would take us virtually from Whaddon to the sunny climes of Weymouth! Please click the blue button above in our logo 'Launch Your Own Campaign' to set up your child's mini fundraising page to share amongst your family and friends.

We understand that it may not be possible for everyone to donate at the current time and we wouldn't want you to feel pressured to stretch yourself financially. Whether you are able to donate right now or not, we would be very grateful if you could please share with anyone you think would be able to support us.

My School - Whaddon to Weymouth

My school is raising money for a new classroom so that we can do lots more learning. We have already raised lots of money but we have a little bit to still raise. My friends and I are doing a sponsored walk during Easter - we have to do the distance from ‘Whaddon to Weymouth’ between us all - that’s a total of 136 miles between us! I would very much like it if you would be able to sponsor me! Any amount will be really appreciated and I will even share my Easter eggs with you as a thank you ☺️

H&J - Our School Expansion

Raising money for our new classroom which means we can stay at our school until YR 6 (all of our primary education!)Over the Easter holidays we are walking as far as we can to raise money for a new classroom at our school. The Friends of Whaddon School (PTA) now needs to raise the last 10% of the funding required for this project. The fundraising campaign is kicking off with a Wellness Walk which we have already started. The walk is 136 miles, which is Whaddon to Weymouth. That’s 3 miles per child at school (there are only 45 of us). We want to walk further though! We would be very grateful for any sponsorship money received and promise to walk as far as we can. We’re also going to do some litter picking on our walks.

Walk for Whaddon

Our wonderful school in Whaddon is fundraising to build a final classroom to become a full primary school. The school has secured 90% of the funds necessary to build the expansion but need some help in raising the remaining 10%. Due to the current circumstances and not being able to organise the usual fundraising events, the school have asked the children to join in and help them raise the funds. The first initiative is “Walk for Whaddon”. The children have been asked to collectively walk 136 miles over the Easter Break. We have set our target to walk 24 miles during the 2 weeks of Easter Break and Olivia has come up with the idea of litter picking along the way to provide a service to our local community. Litter picking has been one of Olivia’s hobbies for a while and hopefully it will help us to collect some money to help our school.
